Norris to re-enter Race for the Aras?

The Sunday Independent is reporting that David Norris is to re-enter the race for the Presidency. After withdrawing from the race over the summer I am surprised at his re-entry to the race. His reasons for re-enter seem to be because of the support being shown, but his reason for withdrawal has not changed. Those who withdrew their support for Mr Norris have not changed their mind, though there are talks that some Fianna Fail TD’s and Senators may help...

Why Fingal’s nomination isn’t worth the paper its written on

You may read in the papers and on the internet that Fingal County Council have nominated Senator David Norris for the Presidency. Unfortunately for Senator Norris, this nomination will not count towards the four he needs. This is because the Election has not yet been called and therefore nominations cannot be made. This is covered under the Presidential Elections Act 1993. Under Section 16 of the act a Council is given the right to nominate a candidate. The only...

Ahern, Coughlan and O’Dea.

Image via Wikipedia So what do three of the above have in common at the moment? To me they represent why Fianna Fail is no longer fit to govern. O’Dea lied under oath, and was forced to resign. Coughlan thinks young people emigrate for fun and theres the whole Hanger 6 debacle Ahern was cheerleader in chief for O’Dea and he is the Justice Minister! This government is beyond itself. It is out of ideas. It has no idea...

The Next Election

Image via Wikipedia The next nationw-wide election we are due to have in Ireland is (barring a sudden General Election) is a Presidential Election. To run for President you need to be a citizen of the states, over 35 and nominated in one of the following ways: by 20 members of the Oireachtas by four county or...
