Its time to go?

Its time to go?

Image via Wikipedia Enda Kenny has been the leader of Fine Gael since 2002. In that time he has revitalised the party but he has failed to capitalise on the failures of Fianna Fail. Today’s resignation of George Lee is the final nail in the coffin for my support for Enda Kenny. There needs to be a change of thinking at the top of the party, a change in how policy and where policy comes from. There needs to...

A weekly message from Enda!

Image via Wikipedia So Enda seems to be trying to catch up with the rest of the digital world and has started to send a weekly message to supporters on a Friday. I think this is a good idea, and the message seems to include lots of information. I look forward to getting it weekly. Don’t worry, I won’t post it every week. Only if its interesting! Dear Member Many of you have said to me in the past...

FG Want to Abolish The Seanad

Image via Wikipedia Last night the at the Fine Gael Presidential Dinner, Enda Kenny announced the following: I believe the Seanad should be abolished and the next Fine Gael Government will put this to the people. I have come to the conclusion that a second house of the Oireachtas can no longer be justified. In abolishing Seanad Eireann, I have examined the outcome of similar decisions in countries such as Sweden, Denmark and New Zealand. Our two-house Oireachtas is...

FG 17 points ahead of FF

Image by jaqian via Flickr I never thought I would see an opinion poll like this in my life time. But Fine Gael are 17 points ahead of Fianna Fail in the latest Irish Time TNS/MRBI Opinion Poll. The full party ratings are as follows: Fianna Fáil  21% (-1) Fine Gael  38% (+6) Labour Party  20% (-4) Sinn Féin  9% (nc) Green Party  3% (-1) This is the first poll to have the Greens down. They are down where...

EPP Congress

Image via Wikipedia The European People’s Party Congress takes place this Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th in Warsaw. The congress will put the  finishing touches to the EPP Manifesto and will probably be the launch for the European Campaign. Fine Gael’s Enda Kenny will be addressing the Congress on Wednesday as one of the EPP opposition leaders. He will be the last of the speakers on Wednesdays  before the Non-EU leaders speak on Thursday. I was invited to the...

The Morning Sessions

We started this morning we two motion based sessions on Health and the Economy. There was no new substantive addition to the heakth policy as announced by Enda Kenny last night. The only addition was the idea of a National Body Test (NBT), which would be “an age appropriate annual check up to pick up illnesses early.” which is an interesting idea. Dr. James Reilly TD’s speech was very good and had some hard hitting words aimed at the...

Enda’s Speech

Image via WikipediaYes, Yet again I am impressed by a speech by Enda Kenny. It was overshadowed by someone elses speech though. The speech was given to commenerate the 90th Anniversary of the 1st Dáil. Four score and ten years ago, on the 21st of January, the men and women of the 1st Dáil met here in this room. Their meeting sent out a message of independence, of courage and of hope to the peoples of the world. That...

Enda’s Speech

October 15, 2008
By Stephen

Below is Enda’s Speech that he has given in response to Budget 2009. I must say I agree with it whole heartedly! Yesterday’s budget was disgraceful in what it contained. It was deplorable in what it did not contain. And it was fascinating in the response it created. Never in my political life have I seen such a universal rejection of a budget. One by one the statements came out. IBEC condemned the budget. ISME condemned the budget. The...
