Due to the election of Fianna Fail’s Billy Kelleher to the European Parliament in May 2019, a by-election is due to take place for his seat in Dáil Eireann.
The expected date of the by-elections in Cork North Central, Dublin Fingal, Dublin Mid-West and Wexford is towards the end of November at the same time as an expected referendum on extending the vote for the president to Irish in Northern Ireland and emigrants.
The writ was moved in Dáil Éireann on the 7th of November and the date of the bye-elections will be on Friday 29th November.
Fianna Fail will be hoping to hold on the seat while a number of parties, including Labour and the Green Party, will be hoping for good results in advance of an expected General Election in 2020.
